Build
A Snowy Mountains neighbourhood where the buildings do the hard work – leaving residents free to ski, swim, wander, repeat.
Set in the heart of Jindabyne, Lakeside represents a new approach to functional, future-focused living. The project brings together 34 architectural homes built from mass timber, forming what will (excitingly) become Australia’s first mass timber residential community.
The vision begins with urban planning: careful consideration of landscape and movement through the neighbourhood shapes how the community unfolds, with a strong emphasis placed on the areas between buildings as much as the homes themselves. The aim is to support both public and private life, encouraging connection to the outdoors and to the town around it.
Brother Nature is the major project partner for Jindabyne Lakeside’s design and build. Construction of Phase 1 is currently underway, with Phase 2 being ideated in parallel.
Designed for mass timber construction and supported by off-site manufacturing, the homes combine advanced building technology with everyday comfort. Each dwelling is all-electric, highly energy efficient and designed to perform reliably throughout Jindabyne’s alpine climate, while remaining low in both embodied and operational carbon.
More than a collection of houses, Lakeside is intended as a place that reflects the character of Jindabyne itself – connected to the landscape and built with long-term performance in mind.
